How to Embed a YouTube Video into a Blackboard Announcement

Retrieving the Embed Code:


  1. In your computer browser, navigate to youtube.com and go to the video you would like to embed.
  2. Underneath the video player, click on the Share button. From the menu that appears, click on Embed
  3. In the new menu, copy the block of text that is under Embed Video. It is very important that you copy all of the text, starting with <iframe and ending with </iframe>. We will use this text in a later step. 

 

Placing the Embed Code into Your Announcement:


  1. Navigate to your Blackboard course and to the Announcements page in the left hand menu. Select Create Announcement.
  2. Enter a title for your announcement in the Subject line. 
  3. In the text editor, click the More...  button on the right of the menu bar and a second row should appear below. Click the Source code  button.
  4. In the new window that appears, paste that block of text that was taken from YouTube and click the Save button in the bottom right. 
  5. Your video is now represented in the text box. You can add text above or below it if you wish. 
  6. Click the Submit button all the way at the bottom on the right to post. 
  7. Your announcement including the YouTube video has been posted.
