Creating Box Links and Placing Them in Blackboard

Creating a Shared Link to a File in Box

In your browser, navigate to the file or folder in Box that you would like to share. 

Select or hover over the item and three buttons should appear to the right of the row. Select the Link button button.

A new menu will open and a shared link will be created. The link is also automatically copied to your clipboard.

Now that the link is copied, you are free to place it anywhere you like.

 

Linking a Box File to A Menu Item in Blackboard

From anywhere in your Blackboard course, hover over the  button in the top left menu and a list should appear. Select “Web Link."

Enter the name of the menu item you would like to create, and then paste the Box link in the “URL” box.

Check the “Available to Users” box if you want the item to be available immediately. Select the “Submit” button. Your menu item with a Box link has been added to the list. To place it in a different location in the list, simply click and drag the left side of the item.

Creating a Box Link Within a Content Area

While in your desired content area in your Blackboard course, hover over the “Build Content” button and a list should appear. Select “Web Link."

Enter the name of the menu item you would like to create, and then paste the Box link in the “URL” box.

If you’d like to add a description to the link, enter it in the text box below. Select the “Submit” button at the bottom right. Your Box link has been added to the content area. To place it in a different location in the list, simply click and drag the left side of the item.

Creating a Box Link Within Text

In the desired text box in Blackboard, type out the title of the link you would like to create.

With your mouse cursor, highlight the title you just typed and right click on it. In the menu that appears, click on “Link."

In the box labeled “URL,” paste the Box link.

At the bottom, change the “Open link in…” selection to “New window.” Select the “Save” button. If you are finished with your text entry, select “Submit” to post. Your link is now tied to text within a text box.
