As of May 2022, SAU Information Technology is beginning to test and deploy a new, fast, and secured WiFi network called "SpringArborU." This network is generally available across campus, and while we have not publicized it yet it is available for you to test and use. This new secure network will help make sure that your internet connection is secure and SAU's network is protected, and it will also make it easier for us to work with you to troubleshoot WiFi issues with your devices. If you want to help test this network, we recommend that you go into your WiFi settings and "forget" the SAU-Students network, then you can add the "SpringArborU" network. All you need is your SAU username and password to connect! If you have problems or questions, let us know!
On an iPhone, MacOS, or iPad:
1. Your phone will require your SAU username and password (your username should look like jsmith or jo123456)
2. Your phone will ask you to accept a certificate used to protect your password
On a Windows Laptop or table:
1. Your phone will require your SAU username and password (your username should look like jsmith or jo123456)
2. Your device will ask if you want to connect and confirm that you are expecting to see this WiFi network
On an Android device:
The settings on an Android Device look the most complicated, but they are pretty straightforward once you know what to look for. Android gives you a few extra options that you don't really need. Once you click on SpringArborU you will be prompted for some extra information
1. First, click on "please select" underneath CA certificate and choose the "use system certificates" option
2. Then, type "arbor.edu" next to the "domain" option
3. Then, type your SAU username into the "identity" field. It should look like jsmith, or like jo123456.
4. Then add your SAU password next to the password option.
5. Leave "anonymous identity" blank
6. Scroll down to the bottom, expand the advanced option, and then under privacy change "used randomized MAC" to "use device MAC." If you skip this step you will still be able to connect, but your phone will roam less quickly across SAU's network.
