Cisco AnyConnect VPN

SAU provides a VPN for staff members that require remote access to campus systems that are not available off our network. This VPN is also needed for connecting to some older systems at SAU even when you are on campus, like CARS and some Access databases.

First time setup:

1. Request access: IT will set your account up with access to the VPN, please request access via phone or through the ticket system

2. Go to remote.arbor.edu and sign in with the your SAU username and password. Your username will look like "jsmith" or "ab123456." This login does not need the @arbor.edu at the end of it. This will allow you to download the AnyConnect application. If you need instructions to install the program, they are available by clicking the "Instructions" button in the bottom right of the screen after you sign in. You will need to follow the setup steps to setup Duo for MFA, if you have any questions please reach out! Most people will use the "FacStaff_SAU_VPN." We recommend following the steps for your cellphone to add the Duo Mobile app with the "push" feature.

3. Once the program is installed, open the program and add the server name "remote.arbor.edu" without the quotes. Then proceed to sign in with your username and password

Normal use:

1. Open up the Cisco AnyConnect program. On MacOS you can search for "anyconnect" using the spotlight search tool (the magnifying glass by your clock), and on Windows you can search in the start menu for "anyconnect" and you can open it there. If the VPN server address is blank, you can add "remote.arbor.edu" to connect to the correct location.

2. Sign in, authenticate with your password and then phone, and then get to work!
