Access Error: "Macros Disabled"

When a user opens an Access database in Access 2007, they receive a message saying macros are disabled. Also, when they click any buttons in the application, nothing happens.

Solution:

  1. Click “Customize Quick Access Toolbar” (the down black arrow at the very top of the screen).
  2. Choose More Commands.
  3. On the left, click Trust Center.
  4. On the right, click the Trust Center Settings button.
  5. On the left, click Macro Settings.
  6. In the middle of the screen, choose the Enable all macros.
  7. Click OK, then OK again.
  8. Exit Access, using the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
  9. Re-enter the app and the error should be gone.

WARNING: This enables all macros in Access, even outside of trusted locations. If you would like to enabled macros only for databases on the M drive.
